Today we talked about 'Good Fit' books. Similar to shoes every book has to
fit. Shoes reflect
our interests, have a purpose, and fit our feet! The books we chose must be the
same, chosen to reflect what we like, for what purpose we are reading it, and
fit our reading comfort / skill. Is it too easy? too hard? Today I brought in a
collection of shoes with a range of purposes and even one from a Mighty Buckeye’s
cubby to explain. I also chose a 'poor fit' Advanced Chess book to show my
students that even though I am a good reader looking to learn how to play chess, this
book was not a good fit. You should have seen their face when I read a section,
but understood nothing!
