Around the Room
This past week we finished up our Mexico unit projects with a Oaxacan woodcarving project. Students actually used Model Magic to create a Mexican rainforest animals using the painting techniques similar to the Mexican folk art. We also wrote codices in the style much like that of the ancient Mayan people using pictures, stamps, to tell a story. We made connections to a past Native American project thinking about pictographs. New Station activities were also added last week including a new Reader app, Endless Reader in our Lily Pad Station, A Compound Word activity to create and sort in the pocket chart and letter beads to build sight words in our New Fine Motor Station. In our Math Stations, we added a game called cover half. We practiced rolling a die, and developing a strategy to beat our opponent and cover half the board first. Oh… and we also had a guest reader, Sasha's mom who read Snowy Day, a preview into our upcoming unit, Winter. We will begin our Winter unit this week!

Our Star of the Week….Aubree
Our Star of the Week is Aubree. Aubree did a great job sharing her pictures and answering questions from her classmates and teachers. Did you know that Aubree loves to swim, dance and play with her American Girl dolls? Aubree also shared that she likes to play soccer and eat ice cream. We enjoyed listening to Aubree and learning more about her. Great job!
